Beauden Barrett secures sabbatical to join Dukes of Hazzard cast
BREAKING: NZ Rugby CEO Steve Tew revealed today star first five Beauden Barrett's contract has a sabbatical clause that will allow him to join the cast of popular TV show The Dukes of Hazzard.
"Growing up on Taranaki dairy farm with seven siblings, I know the importance of family and keeping out of trouble with the law. Duke family values are a great fit with the Barrett's, I can't wait to make my way the only way I know how in Hazzard," said Barrett.
While most players agree sabbatical terms with an eye on playing professional rugby in Japan or resting rather than smuggling moonshine through the American south, NZ Rugby was happy to help Barrett follow his dreams.
"We had a few health and safety concerns around leaping stock cars over dry river beds and being shot at, generally, but once protocols around stretching before entering cars through windows and sober driver arrangements at the Boar's Nest were agreed, we were very comfortable," said Tew.
All Blacks and Hurricanes team mate TJ Perenra admitted Barrett and the Dukes were a great fit. "Beaduy's always on YouTube watching the Dukes - and he loves stopping to help a drifter that's down on his luck, offering to smuggle a race horse or help a circus that's in trouble. He's going to make a great contribution to Hazzard County."
"Let me tell you, 'ol Boss Hog's not getting away with his old tricks while Beady's around!," said Barrett. CBS declined to comment for this article.
