Barrett brother brouhaha: Scott and Beauden's hands stuck in Weet Bix commemorative tin for semi final
Sport Review #327
Scott and Beauden Barrett will take part in this evening’s Super Rugby semi final with one hand each stuck in a 2011 Rugby World Cup commemorative Weet Bix tin.
“We were having breakfast at mum and dad’s,” said Scott Barrett. “We both reached for the Weet Bix (I have eight, Beaudy has four) at once and got stuck! It’s a bit weird, but we’re both good to go for the game.”
“Obviously things like scrums and goal kicking will be challenging, but we’ve checked with the ref and everyone’s sweet to give it a go,” said Beauden Barrett. “Everyone’s tried pouring things in the tin to get us out but nothing’s worked.”
“We train for these kind of scenarios. Just last week we played a training match with Cody Taylor locked inside his Ranger. It went surprisingly well,” said Crusaders head coach Rob Penney.
Sponsors Sanitarium issued a statement expressing their relief the Barrett brothers had their hands stuck in All Black-sponsored breakfast product rather than a rival brand, but also confirmed they would still not pay tax.
Rugby historian Bob Eggstain said a match between Southland and a touring Springbok side was played with Greg Fighty and Pieter van Leather’s hands stuck in a pewter flagon after a late night incident at a Gore Hotel.
Pundits are mixed on what effect the tin-hand situation will have on the Blues and Crusaders’ finals prospects, with the Breakdown crew devoting a 15 minute big screen analysis section to the conundrum. They also sent ‘Big’ Joey Wheeler to Fieldays to challenge cockies to put their hands in a tin with him, prompting officials to post warnings after copycat hand-stuck videos started popping up on social media.

Recommendation
How they made the most intricate pop song ever:
I find it kind of incredible they could do a reasonable job of it live years later when everyone was looking a bit rock star:
And you should really watch this over the weekend, it’s on Disney:
And yes, Petridis is a damn good writer with great musical taste. His recollection of interviewing Sly Stone was excellent.
"also confirmed they would still not pay tax."
Good laffs thanks Richard.
