NEWS: New Zealand Rugby have promised to remove the unpopular Justin Marshall from SKY rugby commentary to ensure the deal with venture capital firm Silver Lake goes through.
“Our research shows Justin is one of the most trying commentators we’ve produced,” said NZR CEO Mark Robinson. “If securing NZR’s financial future means sacrificing blonde tips and a shocking Crusaders bias, then ‘give the people what they want.’‘“
Justin Marshall played 81 All Black Tests and has commentated for SKY since 2010. Famous for catch phrases like ‘Me oh my oh boy!’, ‘Boomfa’ and ‘The Crusaders are definitely going to win this one by 100 points,’ and is a potentially unifying figure in the game in that everyone is sick to death of him and his chat.
The Silver Lake deal has seen rugby bosses pitted against the Players’ Association, with the former looking to develop the game’s commercial potential, and latter sure there must be heaps of deals like this out there in the middle of a global pandemic and economic crisis.
General grassroots soundbite provider and Chair of SouthJug RUFC Darren Club-Tie said “Look, we’ve got our heads in the sand as deep as anyone, but not putting up with that Canterbury dickhead would change my mind, 100%.”
The NZR offer also includes banning Nisbo saying ‘snapped up.’

We were told only 30 minutes before my show was due to start and the news came down like a hammer blow. It was all over, just like that. I was stunned and deeply saddened. The hours that followed are bit of a blur. To be denied the chance to say goodbye and thank all the fans on-air that day pained me. In fact, it grates me to this day….I had just finished the 2nd part of a documentary about the 2015 cricket World Cup. Part 2 never played on-air. Shame, it was good.
