What Matt Lodge and Mark Robinson were arguing about

Here’s a list of really normal and usual things that have happened in Warriors-land in recent times.

• The owner drinking with the players in a Queensland hotel bar, including serial fighter / field-vomiter prop Matt Lodge

• With this haircut

• A heated argument ensuing between Robinson and Lodge, so grave it could never be resolved

• The CEO gamely trotting out to explain that Lodge was being let go with a rumoured $750k payout and how that was all really normal and sweet

On paper, following the Warriors is as rewarding as being emotionally invested in a coin toss, but for a franchise with a special gift for finding new ways to shoot themselves in the foot, this $750k payout for a personality clash with someone outside the playing / coaching group is a new bar.

This must have been one hell of an argument if it’s worth $750k, a dream amount to any grassroots sportsclub, and funds that could have presumably been used by the Warriors to, you know, recruit a player or conceivably be paid to Matt Lodge to play rugby league for them.

And so, Sport Review presents a list of arguments so severe that they can never, ever be resolved, feel free to use these at your own place of work if you fancy a payout.

• Who gets the good controller

• Both men strongly insisted on shouting the next round of Slippery Nipples and neither backed down

• Lodge revealing a strong support for radical steps to promote transport mode-shift in Auckland, while Robinson had recently shut down down a proposed cycle lane near his leafy suburb compound driveway

• Milk first or last in the milo

• Lodge describing Robinson as ‘Spongebob’s house-head’.

• Grim bull fight over who could do the best vomit with demonstrations

• Shortland Street or Home and Away

• If Dean Lonergan’s greatest contribution to New Zealand sport is as a rugby league player or fight promotor

• The best route to drive to Mission Bay from Mount Smart

• Lodge questioning the appropriateness of a franchise owner drinking with players at all
